Frontier Plastics Limited was originally founded in 1966 and spent the early years of its existence as a plastic trade moulding facility making a wide variety of items from homecare products to components for slot machines.

In 1979 the company recognized the need for a purpose designed container for the safe disposal of clinical sharps and developed the original Sharpsafe container which was first marketed in 1980. At this time Frontier Medical Products was established as the trade name for the division manufacturing and marketing this product range. Since 1980 the original concept has evolved and been developed into the complete range of containers now available for the safe disposal of clinical sharps in all circumstances.

 The extension of the range and increase in volume of the Sharpsafe products led to the rapid expansion of the company which has required several moves to larger premises over the intervening years - Frontier now occupies two modern factories comprising over 11,000 square metres near Blackwood in South Wales.
Sharpsafe is now exported to over forty countries and is manufactured under licence in the United States of America.
